🧡🖤🎵 Huge congratulations to our 14 incredible Bonner Springs High School BRAVES selected for the NEKMEA District Honor Band & Choir! 🎶 Out of 45 Kansas high schools and hundreds of talented musicians, our students stood out — and we couldn’t be more proud! BSHS brought 28 amazing musicians to auditions in Eudora over the weekend, and now we’re ready to cheer them on as they perform in Topeka on December 6. We cannot wait to hear their performance alongside their peers from Northeast Kansas. It’s a Great Day to be Brave! 🧡🖤🎵

✨ Bonner Springs High School made history by hosting the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Fall Leadership Conference for the very first time! FCCLA is a national student organization that helps young leaders develop skills for life through career preparation, community service, and personal growth. This exciting event brought together middle school and high school students from Tonganoxie to Atchison, Osawatomie, the KC Metro, and everywhere in between — for a day filled with leadership, learning, and connection. With nearly 300 students and 26 advisors in attendance, participants enjoyed an inspiring keynote and eight engaging workshops across four rotations. With help from both the BSHS and CMS chapters, our very own BRAVES, Braelyn Kimberly and Inali Meyer, each led workshops and helped guide the day’s events. It was an unforgettable experience celebrating leadership, collaboration, and FCCLA pride! 🧡

👻 No tricks, just treats for Bonner Springs High School students! Today, 35 BSHS students got behind the wheel of real construction equipment at Dozer Day, an interactive event that lets students operate real construction equipment and explore careers in the industry. Hosted by NUCA Greater Kansas City, Dozer Day offers students a unique opportunity to learn how massive machines work, connect with local employers, and gain firsthand insight into the skills that power our community’s infrastructure. 🚜 Beyond the excitement of driving dozers and excavators, the event is intended to inspire curiosity about construction and engineering careers—helping students see pathways to high-demand, high-skill jobs. We're proud to see BRAVE students engaging in this dynamic, educational experience that builds both confidence and career awareness — proving there’s nothing spooky about building bright futures! 🎃

At a recent Bonner Springs/Edwardsville Chamber of Commerce luncheon, the Chamber announced its continued partnership with USD 204 to sponsor the Teacher of the Month program. Each month, this program recognizes an educator for their outstanding service and commitment to students. 👏 Teachers are selected for their ability to consistently inspire students to reach higher levels of thinking and achievement, motivate them to exceed expectations both academically and socially, lead within their schools, and serve the community. They also demonstrate a passion for teaching, respect for their colleagues, and a dedication to making a positive impact on their students’ lives. This month, we are proud to join the Chamber in recognizing Heather Marmon, Special Education Teacher at Bonner Springs High School, as the October Teacher of the Month! 🎉 Congratulations, Heather, and thank you for your exceptional work and devotion to your students and our district! 🍎
